The Mayor of Doncaster is a directly elected mayor, first elected on 2 May 2002, taking on the executive function of City of Doncaster Council. [1] The incumbent mayor is Ros Jones elected as a member of the Labour Party, who won the election held on 2 May 2013.
Jones served as Civic mayor of Doncaster in 2009–10. [5] Jones was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2017 New Year Honours for services to local government. [6] In the 2018 World Mayor prize, Jones came runner up. [7] Jones retained her Mayor of Doncaster position in the 2021 election. [8]
