Barasat (/ ˈ b ɑː r ɑː s ɑː t /) is a city and a municipality of North 24 Parganas district in the Indian state of West Bengal. It is the headquarters of Barasat Sadar subdivision . It is a part of the area covered by Kolkata Metropolitan Development Authority (KMDA).
