The Fisher Homestead, located on U.S. Route 60 in Cloverport, Kentucky, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. The listing included three contributing buildings. [1] The homestead house is Federal in style and was built in c.1801. It is one-and-a-half-stories tall and has a one-story brick ell.
In response to the Great Depression, the Subsistence Homesteads Division was created by the federal government in 1933 with the aim to improve the living conditions of individuals moving away from overcrowded urban centers while also giving them the opportunity to experience small-scale farming and home ownership. The settlement contains twelve homestead log cabins, a one-room school house, and a blacksmith shop. A restored spring house on the property was used by the settlement as food storage.
