Tyndall Air Force Base (IATA: PAM, ICAO: KPAM, FAA LID: PAM) is a United States Air Force Base located 12 miles (19 km) east of Panama City, Florida. The base was named in honor of World War I pilot 1st Lt. Frank Benjamin Tyndall. The base operating unit and host wing is the 325th Fighter Wing (325 FW) of the Air Combat Command (ACC).
The 325th Operations Group is the flying component of the 325th Fighter Wing, assigned to Air Combat Command of the United States Air Force.The group is stationed at Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida.
On March 10, 1990 saw the wing receive their first F-16A fighters. In 1995, the 148th Fighter Group received its wing status with the addition of a detachment on alert status at Tyndall AFB. [3] At the end of 2003, the 148th Fighter Wing converted to the newer Block 25 F-16C/D and end the alert detachment at Tyndall AFB.
The 325th Fighter Wing's primary mission is to project unrivaled combat airpower for America. The wing is currently transitioning to the F-35A Lightning II.When the transition is complete, the 325th Fighter Wing will become the Air Force’s newest operational fighter wing with three F-35A squadrons tasked to maintain combat readiness in support of national defense.

The 601st Air & Space Operations Center was activated on 1 November 2007 at Tyndall. [2] The DAF/A1M letter directing this action was dated 25 October 2007, and is almost certainly the date of the center's constitution. Other Air Operations Centers dropped the "space" from their name in late 2014.
