The original St Mary's Hospital. The medical school at Imperial College dates back to the founding of Charing Cross Hospital Medical School in 1823, which was followed by other medical schools including Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Medical School, St Mary's Hospital Medical School, and the Royal Postgraduate Medical School.
GKT School of Medical Education (abbreviated: GKT) is the medical school of King's College London.The school has campuses at three institutions, Guy's Hospital (), King's College Hospital (Denmark Hill) and St Thomas' Hospital in London – with the initial of each hospital making up the acronymous name of the school.
In August 2001 the private Heart Hospital was acquired by UCLH and became the new home for all of the Trust's cardiac services, which had previously been housed in the Middlesex Hospital. [5] In 2002 the Royal London Homeopathic Hospital joined UCLH and in July 2004 UCLH was one of the first NHS trusts to be granted foundation trust status. [5]

For many years it functioned as an unincorporated general medical school of the University of London, until it was incorporated as The London Hospital Medical College on 30 March 1949. [5] A dental school also opened at the London Hospital in 1911, acquiring the new dental institute and expanding student numbers during the 1960s.
UCL has offered education in medicine since 1834. The currently configured and titled medical school was established in 2008 following mergers between UCLH Medical School, the medical school of the Middlesex Hospital (in 1987), and the Royal Free Hospital Medical School (in 1998).
