She and her husband, Gary, have been married for 45 years. Their two children, John (graduated Manatee High School 2005) and Kate (Bradenton Christian School, 2001), have both gone on to earn advanced degrees. Mary has been a member of the Manatee County School District’s Audit Committee since its inception in 2013 and was its recent Chairperson.
[6] [7] [8] Sometime prior to 1915 students who lived across the Manatee River in Palmetto started attending the school and it became known as Manatee County High School. Sometime during the 1920s it became known as Bradenton High School as a high school was created in Palmetto. [9]
This school was built prior to earthquake safety laws and was ordered to be demolished in 1948. The school the students attend now is the fourth Galt High School. [5] In the 2011–2012 school year, to celebrate Galt High School's 100 years of history, Galt alumni searched for fellow graduates to join the celebration.
