Followed hyperlinks change from the Hyperlink character style to FollowedHyperlink only while the document is open, and saving a document with followed hyperlinks does not save their followed status. Thus, easiest thing is to close the document and reopen it. If an answer provides a solution or you find it helpful, please mark it accordingly.

In Format> Style you need to select All Styles in the Styles list. The fastest way to locate it is to click in the list then type the letter f -- FollowedHyperlink should be selected automatically. It also appears in the Styles pane of the Toolbox but you have to select All Styles & scroll about half way through the Pick a style to apply list
In Microsoft Word, hyperlinks have the default color RGB(5, 99, 193). When I use the following script to change the color of all hyperlinks found within a selection from RGB(5, 99, 193) to RGB(0, 176, 240), nothing happens. Each hyperlink of the four sections is in a different color. I would like to turn off the change in color when the hyperlink is clicked because once one person uses it, it is no longer in its initial color. I am able to change the color of the followed hyperlink style to be one of the four colors but not four different followed hyperlink options.
To verify this, press Shift+F1 to open the Reveal Formatting pane and check the box at the bottom of the pane for "Distinguish style source". Then select a gray hyperlink. If you see "Direct formatting". then use the Styles pane (Ctrl+Alt+Shift+S) or the Apply Styles dialog (Ctrl+Shift+S) to reapply the Hyperlink style to the selection.
