One other thing concerning materials…aluminum brackets/angle iron, etc can be mighty spendy when purchased retail. I was able to purchase almost all of my aluminum at the local scrap yard for cheap. And it’s amazing at what you will find. Angles, hinges, you-name it. All aluminum and I think I paid $2/pound for it.

Height on my 1775, the windshield rubs the rubber trim on my 7′ garage door with the front down and also you have to lower your motor also. I also had to adjust my door to open just past the opening. On the Lund forums most people are in the same boat height wise roller or bunk. Thanks for the quick replies, guys.

I’ve been around smaller aluminum boats and pre-2000 Alumacraft & Crestliner boats as well as pontoon boats for most of my life, but I don’t recall ever even riding in a Sylvan.

Just curious as to what you guys think.

The boats sit up and catch a lot of wind. I have fished out of Lund’s and smokers for over 20 years. Resale is not good. Buy a glass boat and you will get your money back. I bought a glass boat three years ago. It rides like a dream. Dry as can be. To top it off it’s still worth what I paid for it. Go ahead and buy aluminum I don’t care.

The magic of computer control cutting machines. I just finished a ’81 Lund Pike and everything had to come out to replace the floor, I worked on the boat for about 10 hrs a week for over a year and a half. I saved every old rotten piece of wood I could, to help make patterns for the new pieces. But I thought I had seen a project where the ...

July 21, 2016 at 1:20 pm #1630195. I’m looking for a used boat. I’ll be striper/hybrid fishing on a 34k acre lake in Texas. After some research, I’ve decided that a 17′-20′ deep V aluminum boat fits my needs best (fishing, room for family, tubing, easy to maintain, etc.). In Texas, most people fish with glass boats and the only ...
