Buyer Beware! Deciding to exclusively give out books as Christmas gifts this year, I placed a large order with Book Outlet on the 28th of November; following a phone conversation with Book Order Customer Service whereby assurances were given that the order would be delivered WELL before Christmas.

Just want to throw it out there that Book Outlet has gotten a lot better and is such a great place to find cheap books. My last 2 orders were almost perfect - I can deal with small dings or folds, I thrift a lot of my books & it doesn't bother me. Nothing unreadable. Takes about 2 weeks from order to delivery but it's worth it for the prices.

Book Depot sells books to retailers, and when the retailers send books back (ie. overstock or didn't sell, etc) they take those books and sell them to the public through Book Outlet. I'm in the US so I don't know what CA shipping is, but US is flat rate and free for orders over $35 so I would guess it's similar or lower for CA.
