For 20ga slugs use Brenneke® 3" 1oz (#211 56 11) or Brenneke® 2¾" 1oz (#200 28 25). Brenneke®'s are THE BEST slugs available for smooth bore shotguns IMHO. As for 20ga Buckshot I use: Federal® POWER-SHOK BUCKSHOT in 3" 18 pellets of #2 Buck (#F207); or Federal® 2¾" 20 pellets of #3 Buck (#F203).

Youth models will fit the same gauge but are also not interchangeable when it comes to gauge. If you need a Mossberg stock try Numrich gun parts corp. I was able to restock my 500 for 60 bucks.

I just ordered an 18.5 inch barrel form Mossberg for my 500c. I called the number posted here 1-800-363-3555 and I found there are two numbers for that barrel. The 90035 is for a barrel packaged in a bubble package and it's $72. This number 10031 is for the same barrel in a cardboard package and it's only $66 plus the same $8.95 for shipping.
Found this vintage (early 1960's - pre '68 as it has no serial #) Mossberg 500c 20 gauge 28" barrel and bought it for $249. In Very Good condition; metal is great, nice shiny bore. Wood is perfect. Jeweled bolt (that was factory standard on the first few years of 500's). The original buttpad is still flexible and no cracking but I may replace ...
Both of my kids used Mossberg 500 20 gauge bantam shotgun when they were young. Same guns, same Mossberg X-full turkey chokes. One gun like Federal 3"#4"s and the other like Remington 3" #6's. Both took their first turkey with these guns under 30 yards. Do your home work and stay within range and you will be fine.

Mossberg 500 20 gauge with gold trigger. Just bought one, heard lots of hype about it because of the scroll work, cheek rest and golden trigger. I was wondering how the gun performed for casual field use and what the deal is for the gold trigger. I read comments by both side, saying it is the sign of a great gun and that it was nothing special ...

I'm not sure about the New Haven designation, it looks like a 500 to me. Basically is factory new, I'd guess less than 20 boxes of shells through it.
Here are some of my finding through several years of experimentation and patterning with my Mossberg 500 20 gauge. As always, your mileage may vary. First of all, in general it throws a fuller pattern than the choke is marked with slower loads, that is--a Modified choke with slow #5's throws closer to a Full pattern.
