Is the backup made with Smart Switch for PC? If so, you can use Windows Explorer to open the backup folder of Smart Switch, and find the photos. On my laptop, the location is C: > Users > Username > Documents > samsung > SmartSwitch > backup. But not sure whether you can find photos edited with third-party apps.
Smart switch PC back up your video and gallery (whole phone ), Samsung cloud doesn't do this so it be this way /Google photos/Microsoft one drive. Can restore from Smart Switch PC multiple backups at any point
Actually after backing up my Galaxy S4 mini with Smart Switch I was able to locate my contacts in one of the backup folders (Temp Files) located on my PC. The contacts were in an .xml file that I opened and verified that the file included all 447 contacts.
I will try and see what happens with smart switch. I honestly spent all night transferring and trying to back up whatsapp from one phone to another few weeks ago, it should have been a quick thing but it turned into a mess and I almost deleted the whatsapp backup that is why I wanted to check with users here. Thanks again & Best Regards
1. Reinstalled drivers using Smart Switch. 2. Using the factory Samsung USB Cable, and have tried other cables. 3. Tried using two different computers. I connected my phone to the pc and started smart switch on the pc. There was no downgrade button I was told I would see. I thought I also had to have the app open on my phone too. I solved the issue by pulling down the notifications window while the phones were connected, pressing the USB options and changing it to mass storage mode. It was in charging mode. Immediately after the Galaxy 7 Edge Smart Switch app recognized the phone and I was able to transfer.
So you're saying: 1. restore from Samsung backup, 2. restore acounts backup?, then restore from PC Switch backup? in that order? Is that overkill? I don't want to use the old wallpapers from Note 20 5G, but want to keep all my settings from phone, ringtones, homescreens app groupings, sms, widgets.
Hello, I have just purchased a new Samsung S20 phone. When I tried to transfer applications from my old phone to this one, Smart Switch cannot be executed because of this error: "Security Policy restrict the use of Smart Switch." What can I do? Thanks Jaime
From a note 10+ to S21+… smart switch THINKS it’s done the all transfer, but only about 1/4 of the apps come over, no Home Screen setups, actually no home screens at all, and of course no passwords or app settings come over at all.
