   Windows 10 does not impose any limit on your screen resolutions, it is your graphics card that imposes resolution limits . .. Open Device Manager (accessible by right clicking your Start Menu) Expand the Display Adapters section.

   The aspect ratio of a 3,840 x 2,160 monitor is 16:9, while the aspect ratio of a 2,560 (which is what I think you mean) x 1,080 monitor is 21:9. That explains the stretching. 2,850 x 1,080 is something of an oddball resolution. 2,560 x 1,080 is more prevalent (because it corresponds more closely to 21:9 which is a common resolution for ultrawides.)

   Many FPS Games being released today and likely going forward are implementing FOV Sliders Native'ly. As such any otherwise unfair advantage that an Ultrawide monitor could offer, could EASILY be countered by giving the game the ability to detect the Console is outputting 21:9 and artificially capping the FOV players can select in game.

   Make sure the Monitor is connected to your Surface Dock. Start the Intel Graphics Command Center. Choose your monitor and under General=>Resolution click the Custom button (see the attached screenshot). Add a custom 5120x1440 60Hz resolution. In Windows Display Settings, you should be able to see the new resolution now.
