May 12, 2024 at 12:23 PM. I had an early ultrasound (transabdominal) today at what I thought was 6 weeks. The size of the gestational sac when measured put me at 5 weeks 6 days. The gestational sac was measuring 10.9mm and it was empty. I was advised to have another ultrasound in 2 weeks to see if there will be an embryo there.

Your approximate date of conception is a better guide than LMP. If you’re really only rough 5w4d then an empty sac is very normal. My cycles are usually a week longer than the normal 28 day cycle so based on lmp I would be 5.5 weeks but because I was doing ovulation tests I know that I’m actually only 4.5 weeks.
