Roll bending may be done to both sheet metal and bars of metal. If a bar is used, it is assumed to have a uniform cross-section, but not necessarily rectangular, as long as there are no overhanging contours, i.e. positive draft. Such bars are often formed by extrusion. The material to be shaped is suspended between the rollers.
The flat metal plate is placed in the machine on either side and "pre-bent" on the same side. The side rolls do the work of bending. The pinching roll holds the plate. Three-roller machines (variable pitch aka variable geometry) have one pressing top roll and two pressing side rolls.
A press brake bending a sheet of steel. A press brake is a type of brake, a machine used for bending sheet metal and metal plate. [1] It forms predetermined bends by clamping the workpiece between a matching top tool and bottom die. [2] Bending process A high-tonnage hydraulic press brake Liwei CNC 2000T 12M Heavy Duty model

Bending A chimney starter, a sample product of bending. Bending is a manufacturing process that produces a V-shape, U-shape, or channel shape along a straight axis in ductile materials, most commonly sheet metal. [1] Commonly used equipment include box and pan brakes, brake presses, and other specialized machine presses.
