Powhatan County Public Schools is the public school system of Powhatan County, Virginia, United States. As of 2019, there are about 4,300 students enrolled in 5 accredited schools. [ 2 ] The district is led by superintendent Dr. Beth Teigen.
The Powhatan County public school system grew more healthy and Huguenot Academy found it difficult to retain students and teachers. [2] Blessed Sacrament High School purchased Huguenot Academy in 1998, blending the already-built facilities and infrastructure of Huguenot Academy with the financial resources of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond. [2]
Powhatan High School was housed in a number of different buildings in the 1900s. The building used from 1971 to 2003 was later used as Pocahontas Middle School from 2003 to 2016, and is now called Pocahontas Landmark Center and used as the school board office.

These elementary schools currently educate Kindergarten through 5th grade. Powhatan Middle School was completed in 2018 and educates 6th grade through 8th grade. Powhatan High School, located at 1800 Judes Ferry Road, is the county's only secondary school that teaches 9th through 12th grade. [28]

Once accepted into the school, students must maintain a GPA of 2.5 and conform to all of the standards of the regional board. The student is required to maintain good academic standing and may remain in the school as long as they reside in a participating school district and funding school. The school also teaches dual enrollment.
Belmead was built by Philip St. George Cocke in 1835. Cocke was the son of John Hartwell Cocke of Bremo Bluff in Fluvanna County, Virginia.He was a graduate of both the University of Virginia and the United States Military Academy and had served for a year in the US Army as a second lieutenant.
