Moffat is around 59 miles (95 kilometres) to the southeast of Glasgow, 51 miles (82 kilometres) southwest of Edinburgh, 21 miles (34 kilometres) northeast of Dumfries and 44 miles (71 kilometres) northwest of Carlisle. The Moffat House Hotel, located at the northern end of the High Street, was designed by John Adam.

Heathhall is a suburb of Dumfries, in the council area of Dumfries and Galloway, Scotland. It is to the north of Dumfries and just south of Locharbriggs. It was an airfield for the duration of the Second World War. It lies along the A701 road, which starts at a roundabout along the A75. It has one primary school, which also has a nursery. [1]

Cally Palace, formerly known as Cally House, is an 18th-century country house in the historical county of Kirkcudbrightshire in Dumfries and Galloway, south-west Scotland. The house is now a four star country house hotel and golf resort. It is located 1.2 kilometres (0.75 mi) south of Gatehouse of Fleet.
Glencaple is a small settlement in the Dumfries and Galloway area of SW Scotland. Situated on the banks of the River Nith, it once served as a port for nearby Dumfries. Glencaple is a Gaelic name meaning 'horse valley' from the words gleann 'narrow valley' and capall 'horse, mare'. [1] [2]
