Jal (Urdu: جل, transl. Water) is a pop rock band from Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. [2] The band originally consisted of songwriter, vocalist and lead guitarist, Goher Mumtaz and vocalist, Atif Aslam and later joined by bass guitarist Omer Nadeem [3] and later Salman Albert joined on drums in 2003.
Atif Aslam released his debut solo album Jal Pari after he left the band, which included some songs from Aadat: "Lamhey" (titled as "Bheegi Yaadein" on Jal Pari), "Dil Haarey" (titled as "Ankhon Se" on Jal Pari) and "Rangon Mein" (titled as "Zindagi" on Jal Pari). Later on Atif, left the band because of some differences and he pursued his solo career, while Goher formed the new line-up and brought Farhan Saeed on vocals and Amir Sheraz (Shazi) on bass. With this new line-up, Jal released their first studio album Aadat in 2003. The album was a major hit in both Pakistan and India and won various awards.
