Born in February 1731 at Grangemellon, Kildare, Ireland, he was the fourth son of Sir John St Leger, who was a judge of the Court of Exchequer, and his second wife Lavinia, daughter of Kingsmill Pennefather of Cashel. [1] He was educated at Eton College. He attended Peterhouse, [2] before embarking on a career in the army.
Sir Kildare Borrowes, 3rd Baronet (c. 1660 – May 1709) [1] was an Irish politician. He was the son of Sir Walter Borrowes, 2nd Baronet and his first wife Lady Eleanor FitzGerald, daughter of George FitzGerald, 16th Earl of Kildare and Lady Joan Boyle. [ 2 ]
He was the eldest son of Sir Kildare Borrowes, 3rd Baronet and his wife Elizabeth Dixon, daughter of Sir Richard Dixon and his wife Mary Eustace of Calverstown. [2] He was educated at Trinity College, Dublin. [3] In 1709, he succeeded his father as baronet. [4] Borrowes represented Harristown in the Irish House of Commons between 1721 and 1727. [1]
Both marriages appear to have been childless. After his death Rebecca remarried, as his third wife, Sir Erasmus Borrowes, High Sheriff of Kildare and first of the Borrowes baronets of Grangemellon. Erasmus died about 1650; Rebecca died in 1682. [18]
