Peshawar District (Pashto: پېښور ولسوالۍ, Hindko: ضلع پشور, Urdu: ضلع پشاور) is a district in the Peshawar Division of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. It is located about 160 km west of the Pakistan's capital Islamabad .

The main settlement in Peshawar division is Kalakhel. Prior to 2018, this administrative subdivision was known as Peshawar Subdivision, and formerly also known as Frontier Region Peshawar was a subdivision of Federally Administered Tribal Areas of Pakistan. The region was named after Peshawar District which lies to the north and west. [2]
Peshawar Division is an administrative division of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan. It was abolished in the reforms of 2000, like all divisions, but reinstated in 2008. At independence in 1947, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (then North-West Frontier Province) was split into two divisions, Dera Ismail Khan and Peshawar.
It is the eighty fifth-largest city of Pakistan, according to 2017 census. Located in the Valley of Peshawar, Charsadda lies about 29 kilometres (18 mi) from the provincial capital of Peshawar at an altitude of 276 metres (906 ft). [5] The total area of Charsadda District measures about 996 square Km.
Peshawar District is divided into five towns: [1] Town I; Town II; Town III; Town IV; Town V (Ex-FR Peshawar) These towns are further subdivided into 103 union councils, with each union council having an elected "Nazim".
