The NIV Study Bible is a study Bible originally published by Zondervan in 1985 that uses the New International Version (NIV). Revisions include one in 1995, a full revision in 2002, an update in October 2008 for the 30th anniversary of the NIV, another update in 2011 (with the text updated to the 2011 edition of the NIV), and a fully revised update in 2020 named "Fully Revised Edition". The complete Darby Bible, including Darby's 3rd edition New Testament and his students' Old Testament, was first published in 1890. [ 1 ] Darby's purpose was, as he states in the preface to his English NT, to make a modern translation for the unlearned who have neither access to manuscript texts nor training and knowledge of ancient languages ...
Revelation 7 is the seventh chapter of the Book of Revelation or the Apocalypse of John in the New Testament of the Christian Bible. The book is traditionally attributed to John the Apostle, [1] [2] but the precise identity of the author remains a point of academic debate. [3] Chapter 6 to Chapter 8:5 record the opening of the Seven Seals. [4]
A further edition with minor edits was published in 1999. A revised English edition, Today's New International Version (TNIV), again used gender-neutral language and was released as a New Testament in March 2002, with the complete Bible being published in February 2005. [18]
Matthew 5:9 reads: "Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God." [7] Here, the Greek word huioi is translated "children" rather than "sons" as found in other modern English translations such as the Revised Standard Version, [8] New American Standard Bible, [9] New King James Version, [10] and the Amplified Bible. [11]
The readings used by the revisers were compiled into a new edition of the Greek Testament by Edwin Palmer. [3] The Revised Version is significant in the history of English Bible translation for many reasons. At the time of the RV's publication, the nearly 300-year-old King James Version was the main Protestant English Bible in Victorian England.
